Gateau and Corn Chaff is a popular dish served in urban restaurants in Cameroon.

Many people buy it because it's cheap and can sustain one for hours. In this article, you will learn how to prepare it yourself at home for consumption or for sale.

A, How to prepare Gateau

A, How to prepare Gateau

Ingredients to prepare Gateau

  • 4  cups of flour,

  • 1 cup warm water,

  • 1 large egg, 

  • 1 sachet yeast or 2 tablespoon, 

  • 1/4 cup of sugar.

Procedure to prepare Gateau

Pour water into bowl

Add egg and mix

Add sugar

Add melted butter

Add yeast and mix

Add flour and mix to get solf.

Should be soft but not sticking to hands.

Then cover dough in a pan for about 45 minutes

Then take it now and make twist or roll or balls any how u want it 

Cover again after like 15 minutes.

Fry on low to medium heat


B, How to prepare Cornchaff

Ingredients to prepare Cornchaff

  • Beans

  • Corn

  • Ginger, garlic, tomatoes, onion, green spice(parsely), Maggi salt,

  • Crayfish and dry fish.

Procedure to prepare Cornchaff.

Boil beans and corn to get solf and ready.

Blend all spices

Fry tomatoes and onion.

Add dry Fish and Crayfish.

Add beans and corn, add all ingredients.

Boil for about 4 minutes then stand the pot down.

Serve with your Gateau and enjoy

Wrapping up

It's usually nice to prepare Corn Chaff before Gateau since the Corn Chaff process might take long and many people will not keep salivating.
